This post is to summary some of the better/more interesting/more fun movies I've seen in the last couple of years. Only one line about each, but much to see...
They are all what is expected from my description line
21 - Vegas sting with Kevin Spacey.
99 Francs - Good but hallucinative movie about creative (advertising), French, based on a book
Babel - Heavy, deep movie about communication. Brad Pitt and others
Burn After Reading - Lightweight fun from Cohen brothers. Not as good as The Big Lebowski..
Death At A Funeral - Great brit (very) dark comedy
Donnie Darko - Great cult movie. Genre can not be defined. High school flick? Horror? Mystery? Very good and enjoyable watch, will keep you thinking if you understood it at all
Doubt - Great, heavy drama with great actors.
Duplicity - Easy watching with Clive Owen. Pseudo spy movie
Freedom Writers - To education believers. Touching story of a teacher. Hilary Swank as great as ever
Frost Nixon - The interesting story of the first interview Nixon had after resignation.
Graduation - Nice high school graduation flick with a twist
Gran Torino - Excellent, heavy but uplifting drama by Clint Eastwood
Juno - Great, great growing up (and getting pregnant) movie
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - OK action movie with Robert Downey Jr.
Knocked Up - Funny comedy (sometime low comedy)
Kung Fu Panda - One of the best animation in the past couple of years
Little Miss Sunshine - A must see, I laughed my brains out. Little (great) movie
Management - Another try by Jennifer Aniston to make a good movie that just comes up weird, but viewable...
Music Within - sounds bad: coming back from Vietnam... Good movie about human spirit, and not heavy at all
Nothing But The Truth - good court drama, excellent play by Kate Beckinsale
One Week - Great road movie, small, but touching journey of one man
P.S. I Love You - I guess I really like Hilary Swank. Great romance (although sad). See with the wife...
Paper Clips - Rednecks learning about the holocaust. Documentry "the old style" but an interesting story. Not heavy and good view. (don't pre-judge based on Rednecks/Holocaust... well, that's what's the movie all about - not judging)
Phoebe In Wonderland - Good drama about raising a problematic child. Intermediate (not too heavy but certainly not light). Great acting by Elle Fenning.
Polishuk - See the series - Great stuff from Israel (Israeli version of Yes, Minister)
Prestige - Magician movie with twists and turns. Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale - hard to go wrong
Run Fat Boy Run, Shaun Of The Dead - Funny, English, Simon Pegg and gang movies
Slow Burn - Decent thriller with Ray Liota
Son Of Rambow - Nice English movie about growing up
Stardust - Enjoyable for Fantasy lovers (actually my wife which isn't enjoyed as well, so..)
State Of Play - Journalism thriller with Russel Crow - delivers
Story Of Stuff - A must see 30 minutes environmental documentary
Sunshine Cleaning - Small American Drama, decent acting by Amy Adams and Emily Blunt
Talk To Me - Great drama about blacks in America. Enjoyable movie, true story and Don Cheadle, which makes mostly good movies
